CARMELO

“So what time that nigga said he’ll be here?” Zay asked impatiently.

Tobias had finally reached back out to me. He said that he needed to meet with all of us ASAP on a serious tip. That had my curiosity at an all-time high.

’Cause how my niggas got added to the equation?

We were at my office at work waiting for him. Zay had some hittas on standby outside just in case Tobias showed up on some fuck shit.

“He said in an hour, and it’s approaching that now. He said that shit couldn’t wait, so I’m sure his ass will show up. If not, I’ma find that nigga myself and kill his ass for wasting my time, but calm yo’ trigger happy ass down. You stay ready to blow a nigga’s shit back.”

Zay cocked his gun. “Always, fam!”

“What the hell wrong with yo ass Kavi?” I questioned while rolling up the blunt.

His ass was staring out the window in his own zone like he had just lost his best friend.

“I just got some personal shit going on. I’m good though, my nigga.”

“Oh, the shit with Harmony, huh?” That got his attention. “Yeah, I overheard her and Mel talking the other day. Nigga, she was pissed!”

Kavi gripped his chin. “Yeah, I know.”

“Nah, now! Not ‘Mr. Relationship Expert’ having problems.” Zay found that shit to be comical.

“Fuck you nigga!” Kavi fired back.

Zay was steadily laughing. “Nah, for real, though. What happened? Maybe I can give you some advice.”

My head shot up at Zay’s comment.

Kavi stared at his ass like he’d grown two heads. “Nigga, if I take any advice from you concerning a female anyway, I’d either be single for the rest of my life or somewhere dead.”

I chuckled while closing in the blunt. “That part.”

While Kavi broke down what happened between him and Harmony, I consumed the blunt and went into my thoughts.

It had been a week since Mel’s mom’s funeral, and that note she received had been on a nigga’s temple heavily. I agreed with Mel when she said it was a little suspect that it appeared on that day. I mean, a true killa would’ve written that shit on the walls inside the apartment or left the note in the house the night she was killed. That’s how I knew whoever did that shit–if someone did–they had to be an amateur.

Mel still believed that Jayda or Dutchess was involved, well, more so Jayda. Like I told Mel, nah, Jayda wasn’t an angel by far. Still, I didn’t want to go around pointing the finger at possibly innocent people.

Those last few months, Jayda had done a three-sixty. If I believed in all that cloning shit, I would’ve thought for sure that someone had made a replica of her ass.

The knocking on my door snapped me from my thoughts and ceased Kavi’s and Zay’s conversation too.

“Come in,” I yelled out.

“Mr. Wright. Your client, Mr. Lane, has arrived. He’s in the waiting area,” my assistant Gloria informed me.

“Thank you, Gloria. You can send him back.
